There are patterns of success and patterns of failure. People that succeed are not lucky. They are disciplined. Although the word discipline has a negative connotation in today's society, Discipline = Freedom . When you can say “I decide and I do”, you are a powerful individual!

Motivational speaker Anthony Robbins puts it like this: “The road to ‘someday' leads to a town called ‘nowhere'. So what is preventing you from following through on your desired result? Do you:

· Rationalize –Excuses & stories (ex. I don't have time; I'll do it tomorrow, etc.)

· Use softeners – Ex. I'm better than I was; compared to others…; it's not that bad

· Choose ineffective strategies – choose a winning strategy. Get help if needed.

Right now, I want you to put everything down and take 5 minutes to try this RPM exercise:

1. R esult – What do you want more than anything else in your life?  

2. P urpose – Why do you want that thing?

3. M .A.P. (massive action plan) – How will you get the thing you want?

O.K. So now that you know what you are after and why you are after it, brainstorm a simple map listing several ways you can achieve your desired outcome. Circle two things you can do today to start moving in the direction of your desired result.

Here is an example to help get you started:

1. R esult – (The outcome) I want to lose 20 pounds.

2. P urpose – (The reason) When I lose 20 pounds I will have more self-confidence.

3. M .A.P. – (Plan) I will exercise 20 minutes 5 days a week, first thing in the A.M.

The more you practice discipline, the easier it will be to make the right choices, no matter how you feel. Start programming yourself for success and watch your life take off, in the most extraordinary ways! You CAN do it! Keep your eyes on the prize!
